Students Enjoy Camp Courageous

Thirteen students, three staff members and a high school volunteer returned, worn out from three days at Camp Courageous. The students attended the camp near Monticello, Iowa on April 22-24. They were in total agreement that it was a “fun adventure”. Nicole Lequia and Chelsey Danielson, teachers at Lincoln spear headed the trip with students in grades 1-5. The

Camp Courageous 043cost for the campers was met through various fund raisers and donations.

Old Creamery Theatre

Students in grades K-5 enjoyed a live professional performance by the Old Creamery Theatre at the Van Allen Gym on Friday March 6. Their amazing stories (written by young authors) were about characters that use the Six Pillars of Good Character to make the world a better place every day.

Tech Survey

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We are partnering with BrightBytes, an educational software company, in order to learn more about our students’ school and home technology use. The goal is to gather data on technology access and skills in order to understand the connection between technology use and student achievement. For that reason, we are reaching out to ask you to take part in a Clarity Parent survey. Your participation is essential in helping us form a more complete picture of technology use for learning in your child’s life.

To participate in our Clarity Parent survey, please visit http://bbyt.es/HC6AP. If you do not have internet access at home, you may use our lab during Parent/teacher conferences.

We ask that responses be complete by March 28th. Please know that all of your responses will remain anonymous to protect your privacy.

Lincoln Spring Music Concert

Our Concert is Coming!! Our Concert is Coming!!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Lincoln students are beginning to work on their spring concert called “Americans We”. Performance will be Tuesday, April 14th in the high school gym. The K-2 concert will begin at 6:30 PM, so the students need to be there by 6:15. The 3rd – 5th grade students will present their concert at 7:30. They should be there by 7:15 PM, so we can begin the program promptly.

Since the theme is patriotic, I would like the students to dress in blue jeans and a red or white or blue colored t-shirt (only one color with no pictures or words). They need to wear shoes that will not slip off while they are moving to the music. That means tennis shoes are great, but no slip-ons or flip-flops, please.

Some 3rd, 4th and 5th students volunteered, and will soon be given a short speaking part for the program. Ask your child if he/she has a part and help him/her practice it at home. Remind your child to say it loud enough to be heard at the concert.

If you have any questions, please call me at school (385-7765) or send a note by email (shari.moeller@mtpcsd.org) or with your child.

See you on April 14th,

Mrs. Moeller

Preparing for Iowa Assessments

Students in Mrs.Taylor’s and Mrs. Klein’s fifth grades have definitely lit up some positive attitudes for our upcoming Iowa Assessments. They have initiated button making, posters, cheers, singing and skits centered around the theme “Fire Up for Iowa Assessments”. They even passed out “hot” candies to every student in grades two through five. February 10-12, all second through fifth grade students in the district will be tested on reading, math and science concepts. We have reminded all students to get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast everyday and to arrive at school on time.
